According to a Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in which he said “Hajj is Arafah” (Tirmidhi), these three words describe the importance of this day in the period of Hajj. It is the same place where on the judgement day all of us will gather. These are the 5 things all of the Muslims should do on the day of Arafah.
1. Fast On This Day
Fasting on this day is highly recommended to the people who are not doing Hajj. According to a Hadith, “Fasting on the day of Arafat can wash your sins” (Minor sins)
2. Dikhr or Dua of Arafah
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said,
You can reap many rewards just by reciting this dua often. The translation of this dua can be found here.
3. Takbeer, Tahmeed, Tahleel, and Tasbeeh
Takbeer: Allah ho Akber (Allah is great)
Tahmeed: Alhamdulillah (All Praise belongs to Allah)
Tahleel: La ilaaha il–lal–laah (There is none worthy of worship except Allah)
Tasbeeh: Subhanallah (Glory be to Allah)
You also have often seen Haajis (People who are performing Hajj) are saying these words loudly. The main reason of saying this loud to proclaim the greatness of Allah.
4. Seek Forgiveness From Allah
Recite this “Sayyidul Istighfaar” Twice morning and night on the day of Arafat;
This is the best way to seek forgiveness from Allah the almighty. The more your put your heart in saying it the more it will make you wash your sins away.
5. Get Inspired
You can also read about the Islamic knowledge, or can go to the mosque and pray Naafil or Sunnah or can also recite Quran. Furthermore, you can teach your children about Islam, which also equals to the things described above.
May ALLAH accepts our Prayers and HAJJ.
